Description
Each book is cumulative, building on the previous books in the series.
Text is varied so the child must look at the word and not just memorize a pattern. Simple pictures, many drawn by children, keep the child’s focus on the text.
The books are carefully designed to provide appropriate return sweep spacing and illustrations of non-sight words.
Children feel successful because each book introduces only one or two new words. Successive books use the vocabulary from previous titles.
The 23 books are titled after the keywords and numbered for a sequential introduction. Text is varied so the child must look at the print, not just memorize the pattern — a common problem in beginning books. Pictures are simple so the child focuses on the text.
